Arthur, Illinois is a small quiet community of about 2300 people in East Central Illinois.

It is well known for its clean streets, tidy residential neighborhoods, strong retail community, a sound, high achieving school district, an active events calendar, clean industries, and the large Amish population in the rural area surrounding Arthur. Now if this sounds like a chamber of commerce boast, you'll just have to see for yourself.

Many rural communities struggle to keep retail going. In Arthur it seems to thrive, without bringing clutter. Mostly locally owned, Arthur hosts choices in clothing, hardware, furniture, restaurants, and other categories that neighboring communities envy.

Arthur has a high graduation rate with most graduates going on to advanced education. The Arthur school system operates a self contained curriculum for many of the rural Amish children who only attend school thru the eighth grade. In addition, Arthur has a well established k-12 Christian parochial school. Kids do well in Arthur.

Arthur boasts a low crime rate with its 24/7 police coverage. Arthur is a safe place to raise a family. Enjoy walking anywhere in Arthur, any time of the day or night.

While Arthur has plenty of room for housing, ranging from beautiful older neighborhoods, to new subdivisions, Arthur is the opposite of a bedroom community. The Arthur business community employs more people during the day than live here in total during the evening. People drive as much as 2 hours to their jobs here in Arthur. And while that implies traffic and congestion, a drive across town or to get a pizza only takes mere minutes during our "rush Hour."
